Fabio Sasso is a designer living and working in San Francisco, California. Born in Brazil and inspired to come to America by the emerging grunge and digital collide, he has been in the public spotlight for many years thanks to a large range of talents. Though he identifies as a product designer, Fabio has also worked in print, web design, illustration, and as creative head in large projects. Before joining Google at the senior level he founded Abduzeedo, a curated spotlight of designers and tutorials, long before that was a common occurrence. Abduzeedo does showcase his own work occasionally, but nowadays Sasso’s design can be soon at Google Headquarters. He began in the doodle department but is now in charge of, or a team member of several Google products including Wallet, Shopping, Currents, and others.
Fabio’s inspiration comes from his childhood surroundings, including the 80’s and 90’s visual cues. For Fabio this means bright colors next to grunge, and smooth gradients with a David Carson mentality. He has spoken on a love of the physical and digital merged, and you can see that in a portrait of Ali with an 8-bit rendering but realistic background. Or, a poster for “Man of Steel” that highlights a vibrant gradient against a minimal silhouette drawing. For Fabio Sasso, it’s as simple as “doing what you love, because with that you will be able to be consistent in what you do”
